Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Cambodia
is during the dry season from November to April, when the weather is
pleasant, making it ideal for exploring Angkor Wat, Phnom Penh, and the
beautiful islands like Koh Rong. This is also the peak tourist season, so
expect higher prices and larger crowds.
For a quieter and budget-friendly
trip, visit during the wet season from May to October. While there are
occasional heavy rains, the countryside becomes lush and green, and the famous Tonle
Sap Lake reaches its fullest, offering stunning boat tours.
What to Expect
Language: The official language is Khmer,
but English is widely spoken in tourist areas, hotels, and restaurants.
Currency: The official currency is the Cambodian
Riel (KHR), but US dollars are widely accepted for most
transactions. Small change is usually given in riel.
Credit Cards and ATMs: ATMs are available in major
cities like Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, and credit cards are accepted in
hotels and large restaurants. However, small vendors and local markets prefer
cash.
Plugs: Cambodia uses Type A, C, and
G plugs, with a standard voltage of 230V and a frequency of 50Hz.
A universal adapter is recommended.
Safety: Cambodia is a safe
destination for travelers, but petty theft, such as bag snatching, can
occur in busy areas. Always be cautious when exchanging money and use reliable
transport options.
From the ancient wonders of Angkor
Wat, the cultural charm of Phnom Penh, to the stunning beaches of Sihanoukville,
Cambodia offers a unique blend of history, adventure, and relaxation!
