Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Turkey
is during spring (April to June) and autumn (September to November) when
the weather is mild, and the landscapes are at their most beautiful. These
seasons are perfect for exploring Istanbul’s historic sites, Cappadocia’s
fairy chimneys, and the turquoise coastlines without extreme heat or large
tourist crowds.
Summer (July to August) is peak tourist season,
especially in coastal areas like Antalya and Bodrum, where the beaches
are lively. However, it can be quite hot, especially in inland areas.
Winter (December to February) is ideal for skiing in Uludağ
or experiencing a magical snow-covered Cappadocia, though some tourist
sites may have limited accessibility.
What to Expect
Language: The official language is Turkish,
but English is spoken in tourist areas, especially in hotels, restaurants, and major
cities.
Currency: The official currency is the Turkish
Lira (TRY). While credit cards are widely accepted, carrying some cash is
advisable, especially in small towns and bazaars.
Credit Cards and ATMs: ATMs are widely available, and
credit/debit cards are accepted in most places. However, for small shops,
street vendors, and local markets, cash is preferred.
Plugs: Turkey uses Type F plugs,
with a standard voltage of 230V and a frequency of 50Hz. A universal
adapter is recommended for travelers.
Safety: Turkey is a generally safe
destination, but travelers should stay alert for petty theft in crowded
places like the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. Always use licensed taxis
or reliable transport options and respect local customs, especially in
religious sites.
From the breathtaking
landscapes of Cappadocia, the rich history of Istanbul, to the stunning
beaches of the Turkish Riviera, Turkey is a destination that offers
something for every traveler!
